TN Governor's Schools

The State of Tennessee provides nine summer programs for gifted and talented high school students in the 10th and 11th grades. These programs provide challenging and intensive learning experiences in these disciplines: Arts, Humanities, International Studies, Engineering, Science, Prospective Teachers, Scientific Exploration of Tennessee Heritage, Information Technology Leadership, and Agricultural Science. APPLICATION DEADLINE: December 1, 2006

General Information on the Governor's Schools:

• Length of Governor's school will be five weeks
• Six hours of college credit will be offered
• Students will receive grades for the college courses taken
• Content will be more subject specific
• Students will have the opportunity for exploring careers in their area of interest
• Not all Governor's Schools will take place at the same time (the schedule will depend on the individual university's summer school calendar).

ETSU will host the School for Scientific Exploration of Tennessee Heritage

UT Knoxville will host the School for Engineering and the School for the Sciences

UT Chattanooga will host the School for Prospective Teachers

MTSU will host the School for the Arts

UT Martin will host the School for the Humanities and the School for Agricultural Science

University of Memphis will host the School for International Studies

TN Tech - Cookeville will host the School for Information Technology Leadership
