VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL HONORS PROGRAM!! CIRCLE
OF CHAMPIONS HONORS PROGRAM Students
who meet the guidelines (3.0 overall GPA with no failing grades) for an Honors
Diploma will graduate with Honors. To be a Walker Valley Circle of Champions
Honors student, state guidelines plus additional requirements must be attained.
Minimum requirements for Walker Valley Circle of Champions Honors are:
UNIVERSITY PATH and/or COMBINED PATH
Minimum GPA 3.0 (and no failing classes)
Students on University or Combined Path must complete a minimum of 11 or more
Honor credits.
· 9th grade: Select 2 or more Honors Courses
· 10th, 11th, and 12th grade: Select 3 or more Honors Courses
Service hours are to be documented in the Portfolio; a minimum of 10 approved
hours is required each year.
TECHNICAL PATH
Minimum GPA 3.0
(and no failing classes)
Required: Participate in a Vocational School Organization for a minimum
of three years and participate in competitions available through the
vocational program.
Course
requirements:
· Math - one course above the Algebra I level (4 math credits may be
non-honors)
· Fine Arts - one credit
· Language Arts - one credit in a communications area - Foreign Language,
Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Creative Writing
· Technical Area: Agriculture - 5 Agriculture, Family and Consumer Science - 5
Home Economics, Technology - 3 Tech Lab + 2, Business, Criminal Justice - 3 CJ +
2 Business Service
hours are to be documented in the Portfolio; a minimum of 10 approved hours is
required each year.
NOTE: To qualify for consideration for Valedictorian or Salutatorian the student
must complete a minimum of six honors classes. Honors classes are listed in the
student handbook. Dual enrollment courses in English, Math, Science, and Social
Studies will substitute for Walker Valley Honors classes. The Circle of
Champions committee will review other considerations as presented to the
administration.
WALKER VALLEY CIRCLE OF CHAMPIONS HONORS PROGRAM RECOGNITION OF ACHIEVEMENT.
VALEDICTORIAN: The students with the highest numerical average who has
completed path requirements and a minimum of 6 honor classes. The numerical average is to be determined at the end of the 5th six weeks of the senior year.
SALUTATORIAN: The students with the second highest numerical average who has completed the path requirements and a minimum of 6 honor classes.
STUDENTS OF DISTINCTION: The student with the top numerical average from each path

Recognition of achievement will be indicated at graduation by the following:

All students who achieve the following GPA's regardless of program study:

3.0-3.49 GPA-Students will wear a white tassel and white cord.
3.5-3.99 GPA- white tassel plus a gold cord.
4.0 GPA- White tassel plus a white and gold cord.

Circle of Champions Membership is to be indicated by the wearing of a gold stole.
Valedictorian, salutatorian, and students of distinction will wear medals:
Valedictorian-Gold medal
Salutatorian-Silver medal
Students of Distinction-Bronze medals
