Graduation Practice              9:00am

Seniors will meet at 9:00am in the auditorium for further instructions. We will run through the graduation program twice, so don't make any plans for early afternoon. You will be here for a while. If you have a speaking part you will need to stay later than everyone else so we can check the sound system settings for your part in the program.  THIS IS MANDATORY!

Baccalaureate                        6:00pm

Service will begin at 6:00 pm at Candies Creek Baptist Church.  You will need to arrive no later than 5:30 pm so that we may gather together to get some organization to our entrance.  This is a special service to honor you.  Attendance is optional.  If you do plan to attend bring your cap and gown.  You will enter as a class of graduates.  After the service the church will hold a reception for you and your family.  Please try to attend if at all possible.  The church is going out of its way to offer this chance to you.  Let's thank them with our attendance.

Graduation                            7:30 pm

All seniors need to meet in the auditorium in your designated area no later than 6:30pm with everything that you are supposed to bring.  Don't forget to bring your cap, gown, tassel, and any other parts of your attire with you.  Use the restrooms in the lobby area for last minute touch ups.  We will line up in the auditorium and walk in a line to the football field.  Help out by making sure you are in the right place in line and make sure all of those around you are distinguished looking.

When you go across the stage you will be handed a piece of paper rolled to look like a diploma.  It is not!  After the ceremonies are over, please come back to the cafeteria and pick up your diploma.

Alternate arrangements will be in place if weather does not permit graduation to be outside.  Those will be given at a later date.

Senior Update 2013

Can you believe it?  Time is soon approaching for you to graduate high school! Congratulations!  But before time runs out there are a number of things that you need to be made aware of.

 First things First

School is not out yet and you do not have that diploma that you are so close to receiving.  Be sure to continue to study and get good grades that are needed.  The last thing we want to do is pull someone from the line because they failed a class, but believe me, it could happen.  Please do not put us in that situation.  Don't mess up when you are this close.

 Cap and Gowns, Graduation Materials

The Balfour company will be here some time after the beginning of the new year.  Watch the senior information board in the hallway for details or listen to the Spill.  Information will also be place on the WVHS website.

 Attire for Graduation

Girls need to wear a dress that is no longer than the gown.  Shoes need to be navy or black.  The white collars that came with your cap and gown need to be attached before you arrive (either sew them on or attach with safety pins).  Dressy sandals are appropriate.

Boys need to wear either black or navy dress pants, white shirt, and a tie.  Shoes need to be dark and should be closed toe.  Flip flops are not recommended since this is to be a distinguished ceremony.

Everyone please do not pull the gown out of the bag and wear it.  Iron it with a cool iron or hang in the bathroom so that the steam will help relax the material.  Caps are to be worn flat (not tilted).  You should look dignified.

 Fees and Bills

Please make sure all fees are paid and all materials are returned.  This includes lunch charges, library books, team uniforms etc.  The deadline is May 9, 2012.  You must have a clean slate.  You will be pulled from the graduation line if you owe fees and you will not receive your diploma until fees are paid.

transcripts

If you are planning on attending college next year you need to make sure that you have notified the guidance office in writing that you need a final transcript of your grades sent.  There are forms available in the guidance office for you to fill out.  You need to do this soon so you don't forget.  You must stop by the guidance office and fill out a final transcript!!!!!  Even if you have done a transcript in the past, you must do this final one!  This must be done!

Lockers

All locks must be turned in to your 1st block/2nd flex  teacher by Wednesday, May 5th.  If you do not return the lock there is a $5.00 charge to replace the lock.  You will be responsible for paying this before graduation!
