Band & Choir Get Formal Invitation to 2013 New Year's Day Parade in London
On Thursday, March 3rd Walker Valley hosted a visit of several individuals from London, England. Among the visitors were Bob Bone, executive director of the London New Years Day Parade, and Duncan Sandys, the Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster and the Great-Grandson of Sir Winston Churchill. These individuals flew in from London so as to present the WVHS band and choir with a formal invitation to the 2013 New Year's Day parade in London, England. The band and choir have participated in this event on three previous occasions. Upon his arrival the Lord Mayor was given a tour of the campus and even spent time conversing and taking pictures with students in a few classrooms. During the presentation ceremony the Mr. Sandys enjoyed performances from the WVHS Chamber Choir, Jazz Class, and the Musical Orchestra featuring soloist Leah Snowman. Several other important community figures such as County Mayor Gary Davis, School Board Chairman Troy Weathers, and Secondary Supervisor Dan Glasscock were also in attendance
