Bradley County Schools Director’s Good News Report

Today is Teacher Appreciation Day. Faculty and staff are being honored this week during National Teacher Appreciation Week. “Thank you for making this a good year in Bradley County Schools. It has been challenging, yet exciting, as we transition to the Common Core standards. I believe the transition from TEAM to the Project COACH teacher evaluation model has served us well. Teachers and administrators are working together to improve instruction for our students. I appreciate your good work.”

Bradley County Schools has received a STEM Vertical Alignment Grant in the amount of $10,000 from the Southeast Tennessee STEM Innovation Hub and Public Education Foundation.

The Cleveland/Bradley County Chamber of Commerce recognized BEST Partnership awards at the Breakfast for Champions.

Sixty students in CAD II and CAD III at Walker Valley High School passed the DD114 Chattanooga State Dual Credit which insures three hours of engineering credit at Chattanooga State. Students had a 100% passage rate.

Walker Valley Health Science had 23 Certified Nursing Assistants and 20 EMS First Responders who will be nationally certified and immediately employable. Bradley Central certifies students in the fall.

Four Bradley County elementary schools placed in the top ten in the South East Tennessee On-line Sumdog Math Competition which was conducted during the week of April 26-May 2.

Forty special education portfolios have been submitted and returned with scores of proficient or advanced.

TCAP testing was completed with no incidents. Schools have scheduled many student celebrations following the week of testing for grades K-8. Award programs, kindergarten graduations, fifth grade graduations and other end of the year events are underway. Parent volunteers have been recognized for their contributions by individual schools. End-of-Course testing is being conducted this week at the high schools. End-of-Course tests are given in Algebra I and II, Biology, English I, II and III and American History. A pilot test was given in Chemistry.
